Sarah Virginia Williams Ralston

Sarah Virginia Williams Ralston, 96, passed away peacefully Monday December 5, 2022 at the WNC Baptist Retirement Home.

Mrs. Ralston, a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, was born October 26, 1926 to the late Robert Logan Williams and Sarah Smith Williams. She was married to James Ronald Ralston for 61 years who died in 2008. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Buddy Williams, Emma Plemmons, Mabel Watchinsky and Kenneth Williams.

She enjoyed a number of years serving as the Buncombe County bookmobile librarian. Sarah Virginia loved life, her family and friends. A true giver she shared her gifts of baking and laughter with all.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Susie Ralston Bleckley and her husband Jerry Bleckley; two granddaughters, Sarah Bleckley Merrill (Jason) and Martha Bleckley Dunaway (Scotty); three great grandchildren, Lucy Merrill, Palmer and Abigail Dunaway; and many nieces and nephews.

Sarah was the longest living member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church where a Memorial Service will be held December 22 at 1:00 pm.
