Shannon Mitchell Allison, 50, of Black Mountain, died on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe Co., Shannon was a son of Frances Stamey Allison and the late John Allison. Shannon loved life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, and was an avid reader. One of his favorite hobbies was cooking, and he loved cooking food for others. He impacted many lives and will be greatly missed. In addition to his mother, Shannon is survived by his sister, Donya Cummings (Tony); niece, Gennie Cummings; sister, Marsha Robinson; nephew, Jayston Robinson; great-niece, Rylee Grace Robinson; and many other special family members and friends. The memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Kerlee Baptist Church, where he was currently a member. Pastor Kenneth Rhinehart and the Rev. Charles Duyck will officiate. Shannon's family will receive friends following the service at the church. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd. is assisting the family.

  10. If anyone was a great friend it was Shannon. I love that man. He taught me how to grow Cherokee purple ‘maters’ and made the BEST CARROT CAKE ever! It hurts me so bad that such a generous and loving man has been taken from us. He will greatly be missed. Prayers for the family.
