Sharon Ann Warren Ray, 60, of 11 East Ridge Court, Fairview, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Littleton Warren and Nell Neil Howell Warren and was also preceded in death by a sister, Lanelle Tweed. She worked as an administrative specialist for the Division of Family Medicine at MAHEC for 15 years and was a member of Nesbitts Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas (Tommy) Richard Ray; three sons and their wives, Andrew Thomas and Kimberly Marlowe Ray, Randall Richard and Paula Shultz Ray, and Mark Anthony and Tammy Sprinkle Ray, all of Fairview; five sisters, Bernydene Shepherd, Jean McIntosh and Margaret McQueen, all of Fairview, Emily Cabe of Hickory and Pat Edwards of Asheville; two brothers, Tom Warren of Asheville and Dan Warren of Lake Hartwell, GA; five grandchildren, Brandon Littleton Ray, Brittany Marlowe Ray, Richard Gordon Ray, Hunter Marcus Ray and Damon Bruce Burnette. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Nesbitts Chapel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Barry Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

  7. I worked with Sharon at MAHEC-FHC for 4&1/2 Years.Before i went to work some where else. She was always so nice and helpful in so many ways to me.She was just such a special human being.I’m so sorry to hear that she is gone I didn’t even know she had been sick.
    I know she will be missed.
