Sheila Colleen Plemmons, 68, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

A native of Buncombe Co., Sheila was a daughter of the late Harl and Clara Jones Plemmons. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Huntsinger, Barbara Pace, and Deanna Bell; niece, Donna Brewer; and nephews, Dean and Eddie Smith.

Sheila retired from Belk department store after 42 years in their shipping and receiving department. She loved bowling at Star Lanes, being with friends and family at Stonebridge Campground in Maggie Valley, and playing softball in her younger years.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Christy Vess and Chad Davie, Mark Smith and Donna Webb, and Michael Huntsinger and Jeanie Huntsinger; 23 great-nieces and nephews; three great-great-nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Judy Mears.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sheila’s life from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.

  3. Shelia was a sweet soul.Generous to a fault,she would give you the shirt off her back even if it meant she had to do without . We had so much fun at the campground where we met her.We will miss her desperately. Prayers for you Christy and the rest of your family.
