Sherry Lynn Ashton, 47, a lifelong resident of Asheville, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Edwin Ashton, and was employed as an RN at the VA Medical Center for 14 years before her extended illness.
She is survived by three sisters, Dottie Stelzer, Edna Hill and Joy Page, all of Asheville; nieces Donna, Nachelle, and Lynn and nephew Eric; great-nieces Michelle, Tyla, Kayla, and Amber and great-nephews Paul and Billy.
She was one of the kindest, most loving of people, always giving of herself. She will be greatly missed by all, especially by great-great-nephews, D.J. and Justin and great-great-niece Cheyanne.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Erin Miller officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

I knew Sherry from the library. I didn’t hear of her passing until a few days after the funeral. I would have liked to meet her family. She was always so kind.
