Shirley Hillenburg Owenby, of Williams Road Fletcher, died on Friday, January 21, 2005 in a local hospital.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland she had lived in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Marion Reese and Ruth Goswick Hillenburg. Mrs. Owenby attended Biltmore Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert Owenby of Fletcher; a daughter, Anita Owenby of Asheville.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 22, 2005 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. Jack R. Gassaway officiating. Burial will follow in Tweed’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Funeral Home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1 Asheville, NC 28801 or to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Suite 250, 5950 Fairview Road Charlotte, NC 28210.
