Spencer "Monty" Rhodes

Spencer L. “Monty” Rhodes, 65, of 100 Providence Road, Asheville, died Thursday, January 15, 2004, in the Asheville VA Medical Center. Mr. Rhodes was a native of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Frank and Frances Searcy Rhodes. He served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1959 and was a self-employed carpenter and remodeler. He is survived by three daughters, Darlene Roberts and Denice Williams of Candler and Donnette Moore of Black Mountain; one son, Spencer Lynn Rhodes of Burnsville; two sisters Diann Francis of Hollywood, FL and Joann Lisenbee of Mars Hill; one brother, Jerry Rhoads and his wife Olivia of Asheville; and eleven grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Bethesda Baptist Church with the Rev. Furman Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
