Stella Webb Armstrong, 78, of 47 Jims Branch Access Road, Swannanoa, died Friday, September 13, 2002, in a local health care facility.
Mrs. Armstrong was born in Mitchell County and was a daughter of the late Oscar C. and Esther Conley Webb. She was married to Guy Armstrong who died in 1974.
She was retired from the Farm Bureau Insurance Company and a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church in Asheville.
Surviving are one son, Guy Richard “Ricky” Armstrong and his wife Rose of Swannanoa; two grandchildren, Jason Guy Armstrong, Cecelia Rose Armstrong; one great-grandchild, Dakota Todd Burnette; two sisters, Virginia Cameron and Nina Moore of Asheville, and one brother, Oscar Webb, Jr. of Bakersville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Luther Osmont officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will recieve friends following the service at the home of her son, 59 Jims Branch Access Rd, Swannanoa.

I want to let you know how sorry I am to hear about Stella–I worked with her for several years at Farm Bureau–she was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known. Never a bad word about anyone. I know she loved her family very much–I feel very fortunate to know and work with her. May God be with you through this difficult time.
