Stephen Gray West, Sr.

Stephen Gray West, Sr., 59, of 661 School Road, Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. West was born July 17, 1939, in Asheville, and was a son of the late Albert and Jay Hollifield West. He was a former employee of the E.F. Craven Co., and was retired from Volvo Equipment Co.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Laura Faye Taylor West; a daughter and her husband, Robin Kay and Mark Morris of Knoxville, TN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Gray and Beverly West, Jr. of Fairview and Nicholas Eugene and Tammy West of Asheville; four granddaughters, Tiffany Meece, Rebekah West, Samantha West, and Kasey West; and many good friends who loved him very much.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday at Shepherd Memorial Park with Chaplain Jane Curran and the Rev. Scott Thompson officiating.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
