  1. Uncle Steve’ or simply ‘Unk’ was surely a very special person to me as I was growing up in Asheville — from the times at 58 Cherry Street when I was a little boy and later at Kimberly Apartments when I was a youngster, to my early teenage years at 1 Plymouth Circle, he taught me humor, love, and the use of tools. And at Carpenter-Matthews he guided me in selecting the engagement ring and wedding bands for my marriage. ‘Unk’ will always be very cherished in my family memories.
