Guestbook

  1. We are so sorry to learn of Steve’s death. Steve called me recently and wanted to meet with me about something that happened a long, long time ago. So I called him and we met for an hour or so. He apologized profusely for something he could not have influenced in any way. He had been carrying a burden and wanted to get it clear. I think I convinced him that he had no guilt in this and really enjoyed my visit with him. I could tell he was deeply troubled about a lot in his life. Of all who may have known him, he was the hardest on himself. We will miss him.

  2. Dear Friends and family.
I grew up in Starnes Cove near Steve and his family . My parents were friends of all the Starnes . I remember Steve and his sweet personality and beautiful Red hair.We rode the school bus together with ‘Pinkney Ballard as our driver. Those were good old days.He was very smart and friends to many in school, and in the community. I know so many will miss him . I will , I had hoped to meet with him on the next trip to Asheville. He came from the best family and ended up being one of the best. I pray he rest in peace, until we meet again, God Bless you in his family and , God Bless Steve

  3. Ailene & Steve’s Family, I was distressed to hear about Steve. He has been a real friend for a number of years. My brother Joe Clark, who started the 1st grade at Vance School with his Aunt Louise Arthur Sales joins me in expressing our sorrow at your loss.
The only comfort at this time in life has to come from our Faith in the Sovereignty of God and the manifested concern of caring friends. We just hope in some small way it does help to know others do care. He will be missed. Mary
