Stuart Glenn Johnston, age 67, after prolonged illness has passed away on October, 13, 2021, in Asheville, NC.

Stuart was preceded in death by his father, Stuart A Johnston; mother, Kathleen Blessing Johnston, both of Mathews, VA and brother David Knight of Manahawkin, NJ.

He is survived by his wife, June, of Asheville, NC; his daughter, Elizabeth Johnston, of Leicester, NC; his son, Glenn Johnston, and granddaughter Jocelyn Johnston both of Asheville, NC. Stuart is also survived by brother John Knight of Va Beach, VA, sisters Millie Grimstead of Cocoa, FL and Peggy Wholey of Bowling Green, VA and Jean Aigner of Richmond, VA. Additionally, he is also survived by in-laws, Henry and Betty Schaefer of Lynchburg, VA, brother-in-law, John Schaefer; sister and brother-in-law Ginny and John Cordier of Forest, VA along with several nieces and nephews.

Stuart was born in Woodstock, VA and spent the majority of his adult life in Lynchburg, VA and later in Asheville, NC. Much of his adult life, he was employed at J Crew where he began work as the Maintenance Supervisor and transitioned to a Telecomm Analyst, where he worked for more than 20 years.

Stuart was a great friend and loving father. He especially liked spending time with his granddaughter.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Beardsley and Messino Cancer Center for their work and compassionate treatment during Stuart’s illness. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to Western Carolina University’s Body Donation Program in the Anthropology and Sociology Department in Cullowhee, NC.

  3. I was googling old friends and sad to find out Stewart had passed away. He was my partner in crime at Jcrew back in the 90’s. Alot of time has passed since I last talked to him but he will always be in my memories.
