Fairview, NC ~ Susan Rawson Daniel James, 76, of Fairview, died Thursday January 3, 2008 at the John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center. She was the daughter of the late Charles Bryan Daniel, Sr. and Eunice Collier Daniel.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles Thomas James Jr.; a daughter, Patricia Leigh James of Asheville; a son, Daniel James and his wife, Terry, of Asheville; a brother, Charles B. Daniel Jr. and his wife, Janet, of St. Simons Island, GA; two grandchildren, Danielle Williams and her husband, Matthew, of Clemson, S.C. and Scott James and his wife, Lindsay, of Asheville and one great-grandson, Daniel Chase James and several nieces and nephews.
Susan was the first female lifeguard on the beaches of St. Simons Island, GA. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Reverend James King officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made in Susan’s memory to Care Partners Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 5779, Asheville, NC 28813.
