Tamathia "Tami" Leigh Fowler

Tamathia “Tami” Leigh (Tate) Fowler, 60, of Mills River, passed unexpectedly but peacefully Friday, February 24, 2023 at The Lodge at Mills River.

She stepped out of her wheelchair that morning and ran confidently into the arms of Jesus. Her mom and dad were waiting to greet her in the place she fought and dreamed of being for so long.

Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Charles “Charlie” Daniel and Elizabeth “Lib” (Welch) Tate.

She was a member of Words of Life Tabernacle in Arden.

Tamathia was a proud TC Roberson Alumnus. She was happiest when she was with her family, on the beach or dancing to bluegrass music. She was a friend and light to everyone she met, and was never ashamed to share her testimony of God’s love for her and others.

She is survived by two daughters: Heidi Stanaland and her husband Will and Tessa Sebastian and her fiancé Hunter Gibson; three grandchildren: Eli Tate and Taylor Ace Stanaland and Timothy Gunner Gibson; and two brothers: Chuck Tate and Rick Tate and his wife Sharon.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Scott Graham officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 to 5:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
