Tammy Michelle (Cox) Webb, 57, of Arden, died Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Mountain View Assisted Living, Hendersonville.

Born in Germany, she was the wife of Kim Allen Webb, to whom she had been married 35 years, and the daughter of Carlton Arnold and Carol (Privett) Cox of Matheny, WVA.

Tammy was born in Breverhaven, Germany while her father was in the US Navy. She grew up in Braintree, MA and graduated from Braintree High School.

She joined the US Air Force in 1987 and was trained in weather equipment repair. She married her husband Kim, who was also in the USAF, in 1989 in Bury Saint Edmunds, England. After their Air Force service, they moved to Arden where she had lived for 35 years until her passing.

Tammy graduated from UNCA where she earned a BS in Chemistry, and she later earned her BA in Creative Writing. She loved books, was an avid reader, and worked for Barnes and Noble for over 20 years, most recently at the Biltmore Park location.

A lover of cats, her most recent cat, Firefly, is going strong at 16 years old.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a brother, Edwin Dexter Cox and his wife Allison of Brockton, MA.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at 12:00 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 9 to 10 AM. Please wear something purple as it was Tammy’s favorite color.
