Thelma Craig Melton, 82, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs.. Melton was born in Buncombe County to the late James A. Craig and Dollie Ingle Craig. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth W. Melton, who died June 13, 2016 and a brother James A. Craig.
Thelma was a retired inspector with Magnavox.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra Stepp of Asheville; two sisters, Irene Roberson of Anchorage, Alaska and Ann McLoughlin of Fletcher; a brother, Ray Craig and his wife, Marie, of Fletcher; two grandchildren, Kenneth Stepp and Jason Stepp and four great grandchildren, Alexia Stepp, Blake Stepp, Ava Stepp and Devon Stepp.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Asheville with the Rev. Donald Hare officiating. Music will be provided by family and friends.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

My aunt Thelma and uncle Ken were two of the most lovely, kindest and wonderful people that has ever lived. They will always remain in my heart and thoughts never to be forgotten. Forrest Gump said it the best Thelma and Ken were like peas and carrots. To Deb and the kids I am sorry for you loss, God bless these two wonderful people Thelma and Ken Melton.
