THELMA H. PARTON Thelma Hutchinson Harris Parton, 89, of 15 Bay Horse Trail, Candler, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008, after a long period of declining health. Mrs. Parton was born June 23, 1918, in Buncombe County where she lived her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents Arvil Hutchinson and Sallie McFee Cole, her first husband, Olin P. Harris, who died in 1964, siblings, Jack Hutchinson, Myrtle Broyles and Mildred McCall, and a stepson, Neil Parton. She was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 37 years, Grason R. Parton; children, Chuck Harris and wife, Patsy, Judy Baldwin and husband, Perry, and Jane Harris and husband Gene Griffin, all of Candler; step-daughter, Grady Brinkley of Asheville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will be at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of her daughter Judy Baldwin, 123 Bradshaw Circle, Candler. Her family thanks the staff of Aston Park Health Care Center for the wonderful care they provided during the last few weeks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801, or to Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 84 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715.
