Thelma Hudson Burleson, 80, of Candler, formerly of Plant City, FL, passed from this life into her heavenly home on Saturday, March 21, 2009. A native of Orlando, FL, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Maggie J. Parkerson Hudson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver R. Burleson who passed away in 1980; a brother, John Hudson and a grandson, Issac Shane Hart. Thelma moved to Fairview in 1973 where she was employed by Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries and the VA Hospital in Oteen until her retirement in 2004. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Fairview. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Betty Morgan of Candler, with whom she made her home, Robert E. Burleson and wife Faye of Plant City, FL and Larry Hart and wife Linda of Dover, FL; siblings, George Hudson of Tampa, FL, Harold Hudson and wife Ruby of Baxley, GA, Jean Wright and husband Joe of Ruskin, FL, Betty Sullivan of Westley Chapel, FL, Louise May of Clarksville, GA; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and two wonderful caregivers, Debbie Carpenter and Cleta Daniel. A celebration of Thelma's life will be held 6:00-8:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Thelma will then return home to Florida where another celebration of her life will be held at Haugh Funeral Home, Plant City, FL, with interment at Shiloh Cemetery, East. Her grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pall bearers.
