Thelma King Hensley, 92, of Asheville, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Hospice Solace Center.
Mrs. Hensley was born in Charleston, SC and was a daughter of the late Whyner Eugene and Leila Collins Inabinett. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Roy D. King, Sr., and Corbett Hensley, and by her two daughters, Hazel Seastrunk and Bobbie Jean Banks. Mrs. Hensley was a retired sales clerk at Lerner’s, and was a member of North Asheville Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years.
She is survived by her three daughters, Louise Branson, of Asheville, Judy Ballard of Fletcher, and Lois Kelly of Gretna, LA; three sons, Roy D. King, Jr., of Weaverville, Eddie King of Asheville, and Richard King of Johnson City, TN; one sister, Rose Bridges of Asheville; two brothers, C.W. Weatherford of Asheville, and Jimmy Weatherford of Maryland; and 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Avenue with the Rev. Chester Owenby officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery with Cliff Seastrunk, Eric Seastrunk, Benson Banks, Chad Seastrunk, Robby Moore, and Chris Moore representing the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m.
