Theodore Joseph Murmillo, 91, of Asheville, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mr. Murmillo was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 6, 1913, and was the son of the late Walter and Catherine Konis Murmillo. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Virgie Parris, a daughter Judy Head, and four brothers and sisters. Mr. Murmillo served on the USS Randolph with the US Navy during WW II. He was a former employee of Asheville Mica Co. and Tidewater Supply and was a member of Oakley United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mazel Chatham Murmillo; three daughters, Judy M. Dotson and her husband Gary of Fletcher, Sandi M. Plemmons and her husband Ron of Arden and Cathy M. Clevenger and her husband Mark of Weaverville; a son-in-law Ray Head of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren, Brett Dotson, Wendi Ingersoll, Dawn Allen, Mike and Lori Plemmons and Emily and Eli Clevenger; four great-grandsons Hunter, Graysen, Raleigh and Campbell Dotson; and one sister Jean Gluckowski of Brigantine, NJ. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Reed Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Melton and Paul Raybon officiating. His family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.

  1. I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Murmillo. He made my day when him and Mrs. Murmillo would come to Dr. Bobbitts office for exam exams. I loved them both. I will keep your family in my prayers because I know he will be missed greatly.
