Asheville, NC - Theodore Spamburg Hallenbeck, 96, of Givens Estates, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000.

A native of Greenport, N.Y., he owned and operated the Rip Van Winkle Fruit Farm until his retirement and was active with the Greenport Company #1 Volunteer Fire Department, the Beacraft Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in the construction of the fireman’s home in Hudson. He was a former resident of Maine, of Tennessee and moved to Asheville in 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. Hallenbeck and a son, Paul Hallenbeck of Naples, Fla.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at 11 am at Givens Estates in Asheville.
