Thomas Alfred Roberts, 57, died Friday, December 27, 2013. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of June Dillingham Roberts and the late Richard Cline Roberts, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Phil Roberts. He had worked as a lineman for Progress Energy for 34 years. He was a loving father, and was devoted to his family as well as all animals, including his dogs. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his partner of 12 years, Corey Elizabeth Lenger; daughter, Cortney Rose Roberts; son, Phillip York Roberts; brother, Richard Franklin Roberts; niece, Lindsey Roberts and nephew, Andrew Roberts. A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to West Asheville Presbyterian Church or to Brother Wolfe Animal Rescue. The on-line register is available at www.grocefuneralhome.com.

    Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your dear loved one, at such a young age. May the God of all comfort be with you during this most difficult time in your lives. May it comfort you to to know that God’s word speaks of a time when all pain and sorrows will be gone and that mankind will live in beautiful surroundings with nothing to fear. -Isaiah 65:17,21-24.
