Thomas M. Meadows, Jr., 73, of 1314 Tunnel Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at a local nursing home.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Thomas M. Meadows, Sr. and Essie Kennerly Meadows. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked as a yardmaster. He was a member of Groce United Methodist Church and Black Mountain Masonic Lodge #663 AF & AM and a 50 year member of the Blue Lodge.
Mr. Meadows is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Anne McCraw Meadows; a son, Thomas M. Meadows, III and his wife Elaine of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Bonnie Jayne Meadows and Mary Lynn Meadows, both of Leicester; two grandchildren, Shannon Meadows Lee and her husband Jamie and Scot Thomas Meadows and one great-grandson, Gavin Connor Lee.
Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Carl Johnson, Dr. Ronnie Owen and the Black Mountain Masonic Lodge officiating. Private burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will greet friends 4:30-6:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
We were sorry to hear of the death of Tom and wanted you to know that we are thinking of you and your family at this sad time.

in town for the services but our prayers will be with you.
