Thomas Max McLeod, Jr., 60, of 141 Sardis Road, Asheville, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, in an Asheville hospital.
Mr. McLeod was born in Statesville and served in the US Air Force. He was employed as store manager for the Dollar General Store in Candler.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Krause Cannon of Asheville; two sisters, Shirley Inge and Karen Stephens of Asheville; nieces Connie Noble and Kelly Teel; nephews Marc Dyess and Larry Inge; great-nieces Sarah Teel, Dannielle Noble and Paige Noble; an aunt, Una Crawford of Statesville and a number of nieces and nephews in the Statesville area.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with military honors provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. Burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers are Marc Dyess, Buddy Bartles, Gray Pardue, Richard Johnston, Charlie Duke and David Rathbone.
His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
