Thomas R. “Tom” Reeves, Sr., 61, of 11 Hominy Creek Road, Candler, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 2, 2000.

Mr. Reeves was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late James Russell Reeves. He was a Marine Corps veteran and was a self-employed truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Hope Hughes Reeves; a daughter, Selene Waddell and two sons, Thomas R. (Rusty) Reeves and Timothy (Tim) Reeves, all of Candler; his mother, Savannah Brown Reeves Smith of Candler; a sister, Ann Scruggs of Canton; five brothers, Brownlow Reeves of Asheville, Nelson Reeves of Alvin, TX, James A. Reeves of Rock Hill, SC, and William (Red) and Edward Reeves of Candler; and three grandchildren, Dakota, Barrett and Hunter.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jack W. Collins officiating.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
