Thomas William Youngblood, 76, of Asheville, passed away Tuesday, December
12, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.
A native of Buncombe County, Thomas was the son of the late Thomas Odell
Youngblood and Emily McDowell Youngblood. He was preceded in death by his
beloved granddaughter, Madeline Grace Shook.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Sizemore Youngblood; two children
Cameron Hunter Youngblood (Marta) of Edwards, Colorado and Thea Youngblood
Shook (Ron) of Asheville. Thomas, known as Poppy, is also survived by his six
adoring grandchildren; Carter Allison Youngblood, Hunter Wakefield Youngblood,
Henry Wolfe Youngblood, Brighton William Shook, Mary-Davis Eloise Shook,
Jackson McDowell Shook and a brother, Benjamin Joel Youngblood of Coral
Gables, Florida.
Thomas graduated from Christ School in 1965 and from N.C. State University in
1969 with a degree in Economics. He spent many years in banking, then returned
to Asheville to run the family business, and he also pursued real estate
development. His proudest endeavor was his final project, The Cotswolds.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Sunday, December 17 at Calvary Episcopal
Church in Fletcher.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to The Christ School Fund or Four
Seasons Hospice.
The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice for their compassionate care
of Thomas.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Tommy was a dear friend as well as a cousin.
I was so sorry to hear about Tommy. He was one of the nicest guys in our Christ School class. RIP
Sad for the death of my dear friend Tom. It came as a shock to me when I heard about it. May his soul rest in peace.
