Tom Filate Davis, 86, of 4141 New Leicester Highway, Leicester, died Saturday, April 14,
2001, at his home.
Mr. Davis was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Harrison B. and Ollie Boyd Davis. He was a retired self-employed mechanic and farmer and was a member of Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Davis; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby
Jean and Sherrill McGallard, Glenda and Tony Rash, Robbie and James Bryant, all of Leicester;
one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Vickie Davis of Asheville; a foster son, Herman Suttles of
Texas; a sister, Lee Reeves of Winston-Salem; a brother, William Davis of Winston-Salem; five
grandsons, Tom and Rick Molnar of Texas, Victor and Kelly Rash, and Toby Bryant of Leicester;
three granddaughters, Robin Bryant, Tonya Roberts, and Brandy Davis, all of Leicester; three step-granddaughters, Kelly, Tina and Amy Waddell of Asheville; nine great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and a special friend, Ann Presnell.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice or to Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all you. The Davis family meant so much to me in all my years of growing up. Tom will be geatly missed but he is in a much better home with no suffering and pain. Always remember that someday we will all be united again in that lovely home in glory.
