Tommie Morris Cornwell, 81, of Mills River, passed away on the evening of Friday, November 11, 2022.

A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Carroll Thomas Cornwell and Bertha Gant Cornwell. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Carroll Cornwell and Bill Cornwell.

Mr. Cornwell was a proud Veteran of the US Army and attended First Baptist Church of Hendersonville for 20 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Evelyn Rhodarmer Cornwell; one son, Gregory M. Cornwell of Ft Mill, SC; one sister, Nina Sue Parker; one brother, Roy Cornwell and two grandchildren, Casidy Mackey and Jordyn Cornwell.

A private burial with Military Honors will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org).

Groce Funeral Home’s Lake Julian team is assisting the family.
