Tony Ann Thomas “Terry” Souther, died Saturday, February 19 at her home. She was 81.

Mrs. Souther was born March 14, 1940 in Yancey County. She was a daughter of the late Pauline Woody Thomas and Rev. Arthur J. Thomas of the Double Island Community. She graduated in 1958 from Micaville High School.

Mrs. Souther was employed at Eaton / Cutler Hammer products in Arden for 20 years. She then worked for Tyco Industries from which she retired.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Graden Souther, two sisters, Elvina Robinson and Leeila Fender, and one grandson, Gage Robinson.

Terry is survived by three sisters, Patsy Hughes and her husband Bud of Burnsville, Vickie Barnwell and her husband Dale of Fletcher and Cynthia Buckner and her husband V.C. of Reems Creek; two brothers, Billy Thomas and his wife Mary of Concord, Denzil Thomas and his wife Karen of Taylors, SC; two daughters, Marsha Robinson and her husband Boo of Belmont, NC and Sabrina Kinsland of Skyland; one grandson Abe Robinson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Four Seasons Compassion For Life Hospice for their care and support for Mrs. Souther during her illness.
