Trevor George Bowman

trevor bowman
Trevor George Bowman, 17, of Weaverville, went to be with Jesus on Monday, April 11, 2016 after battling cancer starting from the age of 6. Trevor enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and held a special bond with his cousins. He loved being outdoors and had a passion for living life. He enjoyed wakeboarding, swimming, surfing, water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, camping, and off-roading in his Jeep 4X4. Trevor was Student Body President of North Buncombe High School. He was captain of the Swim Team and a member of the Beta Club. He held a 4.5 GPA, and would have graduated with highest honors, and planned to attend Liberty University. Trevor was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was very active with the youth group at North Asheville Baptist Church. Trevor had an incomparable passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ. His faith in our Holy Father was matched only by his love for leading others to the cross both one on one and through mission trips. His talents for showing others the path to Heaven led to him being loved and admired by everyone he met. The connections he made through helping others get saved were immeasurable, and his legacy of unwavering faith lives on in the hearts of his fellow believers in Christ. Trevor is survived by his parents, Danny and Torri Bowman; brothers Avery Daniel Bowman and Gavin Griffin Bowman; maternal grandmother Alice Griffin (and late husband Steve); and paternal grandmother Shirley Bowman (and late husband George); uncles Steve Griffin, Mike Griffin, Donny Boggs; aunt Debbie Wynne and uncle Chuck Wynne; and cousins Tate Wynne, Cyle Wynne, Emily Wynne, Jonathon Boggs, Jennifer Boggs, Macie Boggs, and Mathew Boggs. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. and the Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, www.rmhc.org. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  11. I am so sorry for your loss. .Trevor was truly a special person to me. .i have never forgotten him and thought of him through the years. I feel so honored to have been one of his pre – k (headstart) teachers. ..I knew he would succeed in anything he choice to do..He was so compassionate and loving toward the other children and his teachers…I still have the white tigger stuffed animal Trevor gave me for Christmas that year…He would ask me who that little boy was in the picture on my desk…it was my son .who is 2 yrs older than him…so when Trevor gave me my present he gave me a present for my son also…that act of kindness touched me then and still does…I ask Trevor why he wanted my son (who he had never met) to have a present also his reply ‘ He is your son and he didn’t want him to be left out..because that would make him sad’..I told my son that one of my students sent him a present and he was so happy. ..This news of Trevor’s passing has hurt my soul so bad. .I have never forgotten your precious child and never will..Trevor was in the first class I taught..I will pray to the Lord for his comfort to surround you and your family. .Heaven truly is a more beautiful place now that Trevor is there..

  58. For Trevor George Bowman:

    The Truly Great
    BY STEPHEN SPENDER
I think continually of those who were truly great.
Who, from the womb, remembered the soul’s history
Through corridors of light, where the hours are suns,
Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition
Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
Should tell of the Spirit, clothed from head to foot in song.
And who hoarded from the Spring branches
The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.

What is precious, is never to forget
The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs
Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth.
Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light
Nor its grave evening demand for love.
Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother
With noise and fog, the flowering of the spirit.

Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields,
See how these names are fêted by the waving grass
And by the streamers of white cloud
And whispers of wind in the listening sky.
The names of those who in their lives fought for life,
Who wore at their hearts the fire’s centre.
Born of the sun, they travelled a short while toward the sun
And left the vivid air signed with their honour.

  59. I never had the privilege of meeting Trevor, but I heard much about him as we prayed for him and the whole family in class at North Asheville Christian School. 79. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ESV
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Our deepest condolences precious family. God’s Blessings!

  93. God always picks the best. I only knew Trevor through one of his mutual friends. But just from what his friend told me he was the best of the best with many talents, and a great belief in Christ Jesus. I was drawn into from him being so young, yet not knowing how sick he was I felt a compassion to witness to him by sending him cards to keep his spirits up and to keep hoping he would win the battle. God had other ideas for his life. To those who
did not know him, just like me, his life story should be an inspiration to all who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ. Get to know God today. Love and Prayers to his Mom and Dad, and to his brothers and the rest of his family.

  94. The first time I ever met Trevor about 7 years ago, his attitude, friendliness, and Christ-likeness made a lasting impact on me. 97. Danny and family,
So sorry for the loss of Trevor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your whole family during this time. May Gods hands continue to comfort everyone.

  98. Dear Bowman family,
I met Trevor a few weeks ago at the Proton Institute in Jacksonville and visited with him briefly. He was a young man of great courage and it was evident from my first few moments of talking with him that he was a very fine Christian young man. I am sorry that I did not get to spend more time with him and encourage him on his journey with cancer. Although your loss is great you have every reason to be very proud of him. I will never forget his comments at our Wednesday luncheon that day. What a wonderful Christian young man! May your family find peace by putting your faith in God during this very difficult time.

  99. Danny, Tori and Family. I am so sorry for your loss of Trevor. It is evident that he inspired many and was an amazing young man. Our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family through this hard time. I want to thank you Danny and Tori for raising your children in a home that’s foundation was built around the love of Christ and Family. May God comfort your family and give you strength and peace. Dawn Roberts and Family

  101. To the Bowman family: My heart breaks for you but we do not weep as those who have no hope in a better eternal life with Jesus Christ. You will all be together again. He’s in a better place now where he doesn’t have to go threw any pain. The lord is taking care of him. I’ll pray for his family and friends I hope they are fine. God bless everyone

  108. We were so very sorry to hear of the loss of your precious son, Trevor. May God bless and keep you and all your family always in His loving care.

  109. For the brief few weeks that I knew Trevor at the Proton Institute in Jacksonville it was evident that his trust was in the Lord. As a young man Trevor spoke to me about his confidence in Christ’s finished work for his sin need and for a savior who took that sin and covered it with His blood, remembering it no more. Today Trevor is worshiping at the feet of the one who purchased eternity for him by freely putting within him His Spirit. Having done nothing to earn salvation…it was all by God’s grace through faith in the risen Lord. May Trevor’s life, well lived for his savior, be a testimony to each of us. And may we walk as Trevor did to honor Christ with the days that He has given us.
Tori, Danny, and the boys- God’s grace is sufficient for you. Keep your eyes on Him who loves you and gave Himself for you. Lam. 3:22-23

  110. Truly, there are no words in the loss of a child. Having lost my daughter not even a year ago yet, I still think of her and miss her dearly. This is not the order in our minds of how it suppose to be as, we parents think we are to go before them. I found a peace in knowing that God gave us the privilege to not only bring them into this world but, to also walk them back to His arms. The pain is unbearable, but God! God will bring peace and comfort. Reading Psalms is where I started. I heard Him speaking to me through my reading . God is with you, The church family are with you during this time. We love you and are praying for you.

  111. Shirley and Family Praying for your family at this most difficult time. I am a member of TBC so I have known of Trevor and his battle. God makes no mistakes. We may not understand here but we will when we get to Heaven.
I pray that God will give your family the grace to see you through at this most difficult time.

  112. I just wanted to say I’m sorry we couldn’t be there to show you our support during this difficult time. Please know that we are praying for you all! I realize that there is honestly nothing we could say or do to bring you comfort, only God can do that! So, that is exactly what I’m praying for! May He wrap each one of you in His loving arms and give you peace! We feel so blessed to have served with Trevor last year in New York last year! He will never be forgotten!!!

  113. Tori and Danny I am so sorry for your loss. My family has prayed for you all and Trevor since we heard the news from Alice. May God heal you and ease your pain. I wanted to be with you all today but, was unable to. You have been on my mind and prayers for days. I love you all and will continue to pray. Sending all our love.

  114. We are so sorry for the great loss your entire family has recently been forced to endure.. You are in our thoughts daily.

  115. Where a beautiful soul has been … beautiful memories will remain. Our NB school family was blessed with the presence of Trevor Bowman in our midst.

  116. Just want your family to know that we are and have been praying for ya ll. Cannot imagine the hurt as a parent of losing a child But I know we serve a God that provides us with grace when we need it and praying that He will cover your family with that grace.

  117. My husband worked with Danny and we were sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers for your family in the days to come. I too am battling the cancer fight. It’s very hard. If you need anything please let us know…..
