Truett Judson Smith, 88, of Fletcher, died Monday, November 28, 2022 at Care Partners Hospice, Asheville.

Born in Mooresville, NC, he was the husband of Rachel (Smathers) Smith of Fletcher, and the son of Reverend Marshall Devotion and Mamie (Stillwell) Smith. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Satterfield Penland.

Truett was a man who loved his family. He attended Boiling Springs Baptist Church and was a USAir Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by two sons: Steven T. Smith (Laurie) of Charlottesville, VA and David M. Smith, MD (Elizabeth) of Lititz, PA; five grandchildren: Katherine, Timothy, Samuel, Matthew, and Julia; and two sisters: Evelyn Wright (Robert) of Elkin, NC and Lorena Bumgarner of Cherryville, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip Luther officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Manna Food Bank, 627 Swannanoa River Rd., Asheville, NC 28805.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
