Arden ~ Velda Blankenship Ducker, 89, of Old Shoals Road, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 in a local hospital.

A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. Ducker was a daughter of the late Dalaney Edmonds and James Henry Blankenship and the wife of the late Edward Ducker, Sr. who died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Fuller, a sister, Rosa Lee Blankenship and five brothers, Arthur Lee Blankenship, James F. Blankenship, Howard N. Blankenship, William C. Blankenship and Clarence J. Blankenship.

Survivors include one son, Edward Ducker, Jr. and his wife, Pauline of Robbinsville and a brother, Hillard Blankenship and his wife, Thelma of Hendersonville.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 PM in Roberts Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 PM Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
