Velda “Granny” Mease, 93, of Pisgah Highway, Candler, died Friday, February 20, 2004, in an Asheville nursing center. Mrs. Mease was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late R.B. and Margaret Pressley Warren. She was married to Ed Mease who died in 1963 and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Dawn Mease. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Gene Mease and his wife Carolyn and Ronnie Mease and his wife Sheila, one granddaughter Tonya Mease Smith and her husband Andy, and one great-grandson Dallas Smith, all of Candler. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

  4. I loved Mrs. Mease. She was always very nice to me when I was a teenager. We shared alot of good conversations together. She will be solely misssed. She now has a reunion in Heaven with loved ones she has missed and friends that have gone on before her. Love all of you
