Velma Louise Banks

Mrs. Banks was born in Swain County and was a daughter of the late Lewis Franklin and Delia Poston Sawyer. She was married to the late James Banks.

She was a nursing assistant and was also retired from Hadley’s.

Surviving are two daughters, Bette Vaughn of Orlando, FL and Ruby Burry of Easley, SC; one son Johnny Banks of Travelers Rest, SC; one sister Bonnie Patterson of Candler; three grandchildren, David Banks, Roy Fisher and Christina Elkins, and several great-grandchildren.

Her family will gather at 6:00 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

Private interment will be at Edgewood Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
