Vera McCurry Parrott, 74, of 119 Belmont Avenue, Asheville, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Mrs. Parrott was a native of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Virgil Monroe and Lillie Mae Johnson McCurry. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Parrott. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and attended Happy Valley Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband Andrew J. Parrott; three daughters, Diane Mathis of Asheville, Teresa Smith of Greenville, SC and Sandy Rice of Clover, SC; two sons, Vernon Parrott of Asheville and David Parrott of Landrum, SC; two sisters Louise Rice of Cape May, NJ and Barbara Ward of Leicester; two brothers Cecil McCurry of Asheville and Bill McCurry of Cape May; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Brockwell and Terry Burke officiating. Burial will be at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

My condolences go to Andrew and Vera’s kids. I haven’t seen Vera since I moved from Asheville 5 yrs ago. I was really shocked when I seen the obit in the paper. She was a good person and will be missed.

Was a true friend and if you knew her and respected her as i do she would keep you in her heart and soul She prayed for us all Her integrity and love for others will go unmatched She lived her life for others and i for one will never forget this Beautiful Women as long as i am on this earth I will Love You Always Vira as a near and dear friend

I thought Vera was the sweetest lady I had ever known. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.She will always have a special place in my heart. I loved her dearly.
Andrew and family..I am so sorry to hear of Veras’ passing. We all grew up on the creek and I feel a loss to hear another one from yesterday is gone.We were all neighbors and friends in days gone by and we played together as kids.All of you have my heartfelt sympathy for the mother you have lost and Andrew the wife you had for all those years too.My God bless you and hold you in His arms.
