Fletcher - Verena Pearl Katner, 82, of 20 Sunrise Acres Mobile Home Park, died Friday, September 27, 2002.
A native of Mitchellsville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Pearl Hamilton Bates and wife of the late Eugene Katner, who died in 1975. A resident of Asheville since 1987, she was a member of the American Legion, the Moose Club and AARP.
She is survived by two sons, Karl Katner of Arden and Alan Katner of Gulf Breeze, Florida; a sister, Norma O’Brien of Mitchellsville, NY; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Hammondsport, NY under the direction of the LaMarche Funeral Home. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family locally and the memorial register is available at "Funerals Scheduled" at www.grocefuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 College St., Building C, Suite 100, Asheville, NC 28801.
