Vernia Magnolia Moore, 84, of Asheville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
A native of Madison Co., Vernia was the daughter of the late Robert and Flora Gentry Moore. She was also preceded in death by nine siblings.
Surviving are her son, Douglas Moore; grandchildren, Nathan, Rachel, and Alicia Moore; great-grandchildren, Emily Moore, Henderson King, and Madeline Paige; and brother Junior (Edith) Moore.
Funeral services for Ms. Moore will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Interment will follow at Woody Cemetery in Madison County.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Doug; I am so sorry for your loss. I remember both you and your mom coming to Trinity Baptist with Bill and Louise Bruce. Your mom was always the sweetest lady. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Doug & family, Vernia taught me in Sunday School & I remember it well, even though I was a little girl and that was a long time ago. Im sure you’ll miss her but we look forward to that glad reunion day. May God bring you comfort and peace.
Vernie was a dear friend for many years. After we were no longer able to visit we still kept in touch by phone and mail. I will miss her but also looking forward to seeing her again in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
