Verola Worley Payne, 83, of 4 Knoll Ridge Road, Candler, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at her home.
A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Bessie Waldroup Worley.
Mrs. Payne is survived by her husband of 60 years, Plummer A. Payne; a brother, Cline Worley of Candler and a sister, Mary Jo Bunch of Candler.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Drs. Billy Cline and James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
Pall bearers will be Jeff Bunch, Otto Wood, Ron Gowing, Gary Payne, Jimmy Ball, Roger Payne and Danny Bearfield.
