Verona Jean Blasingame, 77, of Asheville, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Aston Park Health Care Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Marcus Arrowood, Sr. and Edith McCurry Arrowood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cletus Blasingame.
Mrs. Blasingame was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School. She worked for the Weather Bureau, Social Security, and retired from the VA Medical Center as a transcription specialist. She was a lifelong member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are her son, David C. Blasingame and wife Veronica; sisters, Christina Keller (Carl) and Dorothea Biddix (Ronnie); brothers, Marcus Arrowood (Linda) and Donnie Arrowood (Judy); and several nieces and nephews including Jim Barnes (Kathleen).
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Employee Appreciation Fund at Aston Park HCC, 380 Brevard Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
One of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. She loved her Lord and her family. She and Blaze are sitting together at the feet of Jesus celebrating. My prayers are with you, David.
