VIRGINIA ALEXANDER GLENN WOODSON
ASHEVILLE – Virginia Alexander Glenn Woodson, 97, of Asheville, died on Sunday, March 6, 2011.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Oleatta Garrison Glenn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Ross Woodson; twin brother James Glenn; and sisters Willeene Kimberly and Ruth Dillingham.
Virginia was a sales associate of the Biltmore Homespun Shop at the Grove Park Inn for 33 years, until retiring at the age of 79. She was a greatly respected historian of both local and American history. She was an avid collector of books which helped her trace her family roots back to some of the original settlers of Buncombe Co. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Jane Glenn Woodson Maxwell West; grandchildren Marlowe Maxwell and wife Diane, Myra Chandler and fiancée John David Luther, and Melita Maxwell and fiancée Bobby Willis; great-grandchildren Richard "Rick" Chandler III, Joey Maxwell and fiancée Allison McKinney, and Stefanie Maxwell Jarvis; and great-great grandson Andy Jarvis.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Chaplain Chet Damron officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Hill Cemetery in Alexander.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Following the burial, the family will gather at her home.
We are deeply saddened to hear of Virginia’s passing. She was a good friend and neighbor and will be missed very much.We send love and prayers to the family.

My Prayers and Thoughts will be with the Family of Mrs. Virginia Woodson. Although I did not know Mrs. Wooodson, I know she was a very kind person and God is so glad to have her home with Him.
