Virginia Carter Gudger

Mrs. Gudger was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Malcombe and Ollie Peek Carter.  She was married to Samuel Love Gudger, Jr., who died in 1979, and she was retired from the Buncombe County school system.

She was a United Way volunteer in Hominy Valley, and a past president of the Democratic Women’s Party.  She was a member of
Montmorenci United Methodist Church where she was Financial Secretary and was active with the United
Methodist Women.

Mrs. Gudger is survived by
her daughter, Rebecca Gudger of Candler, her son, Buddy Gudger of Southport, NC;  a sister, Doris Sharpe of Oakley, two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday at Montmorenci United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Duckworth  officiating.  Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 - 3 pm Sunday and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the
arrangements.
