Virginia E. Hays passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022.

Born on May 10, 1970 in Durham, NC, she was the daughter of Jayne H. Hays of Asheville and the late J. Duncan Hays.

She grew up in Lumberton, NC until she moved to Asheville when she was 16 years old.

She attended T.C. Roberson, High Point College, and UNCA. For the past 15 years she worked as an Ophthalmic Scribe for Carolina Ophthalmology PA of Asheville and Hendersonville.

Virginia loved her Arabian horses which she showed for many years, winning multiple awards locally, regionally, and nationally.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Jared Hays of New York City, NY.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Hope For Horses, PO Box 1449, Leicester, NC 28748 or to an animal rescue organization of your choice.

  1. Ginger I enjoyed working with you over the years and seeing each other at the barn. You kept Dr Navon straight over the years when he was there and most recent Dr Joseph. Both of those tasks were not easy! You will be greatly missed! I am praying for Jayne and Jared as they cope with this.

  5. My heart is truly broken right now. Ginger was one of my sweetest friends @ carolina ophthalmology mology. I worked with her for 6 years. She was the sweetest,kindest person I have ever know. She was a single mother to her son Jared and was exceptional mom. And yes she always kept Dr Navon in line and was always awesome at her job. I will miss her dearly. Praying for her mom and son. You blessed my life more than you will ever know. Rip my friend. Love you

  6. Ginger was such an incredibly hardworking and dedicated employee. She is irreplaceable. She was also a nice friend. She is gone way too soon. Prayers for her family.

  9. My heart is truly broken, I can’t believe you are no longer here. I worked with Ginger for 6 years @ Carolina Opthalmology. She was the sweetest , most kind person and caring person who always made everyone’s life better. She was awesome at her job and always keeping Dr Navon and Dr Joseph on their toes. I will miss your beautiful smile. She loved her horses and and competed in many horse shows. She was just a geniune human being. I was blessed to have you in my life. You will be forever missed by everyone. You will forever remain in my heart until we meet one day in beautiful heaven. Prayers to your mother and son Jared.

  12. Because I have been a patient of Dr. Navone, Sbarboro, and now Dr. Joseph, I had the privilege of becoming acquainted with Ginger who scribed for them. She had a quiet, professional manner, always attentive to my needs!

  13. My husband and i met this lady on my visit for eye care . She was professional and a people person . I am sorry for the loss both to the patients and the staff .
