Virginia Harriett Bowen Interlicchia, 80, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Mission Hospital. Virginia was born in Clarendon, New York to the late Burton and Marguerite Stevely Bowen. She worked as a legal secretary most of her life but was also a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She especially enjoyed time at the lake house with her family and friends and was a member of Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church. Virginia is survived by her husband, Salvatore “Sam” Interlicchia; a son, Sam, Jr. and his wife, Melody; a daughter, Karen Metcalf; and most importantly her three grandchildren, Sarah, Sydney, and Sam III, whom she loved to the moon and back; two brothers, Norman Bowen and his wife, Vickie and Lewis Bowen and his wife, Arlene; as well as extended family on both sides. Virginia’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm with Pastor Stacey Harris officiating. Her burial will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday at the State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity of Fairview’s “Building Fund”, 646 Concord Road, Fletcher, NC 28732.

  8. Sam, it’s with my deepest condolences for your loss of ‘ Ginny’ .I only got to meet her at the Sunday School lesson lunch at Bay Breeze when they celebrated the 50th Anniversary for Bill & Gail. She was so precious & I enjoyed meeting her so much. My prayers are with all of you that Jesus will be you comfort & His presence will fill that empty place in your home. Sorry I was unable to attend her services .
