Asheville – Virginia Lucretia Dodge Robertson, 95, of Asheville, died Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Deerfield Retirement Community.

Born in Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of the late Pope and Virginia Titus Dodge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, USAF Maj. Gen (Ret.) Edwin Roberson, a son, Robert Davis McDougal, IV as well as a granddaughter, Virginia “Ginny” McDougal.

She is survived by two daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Dessaint and Lucretia “Cree” Scudder (Edward); daughter-in-law, Caryn McDougal, one step-daughter, Jane Swanson (Phillip); two step-sons, Thomas and Charles Robertson as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 am at the St. Giles Chapel of Deerfield Retirement Community. Interment will immediately follow at St. John in the Wilderness in Flat Rock.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Virginia’s memory to a charity of your choice.

  2. She was a special lady, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. When my mother passed away 35 years ago, Ginny sent me a beautiful “ baby “ pillow, that gave me great comfort. You are missed, and will be loved always.

  3. I will think of her whenever I’m moved by music , and especially when Harmonies are beautifully executed . She taught me a lot about style without saying a word.. and I will miss her laughter always. I love you Aunt Ginny

  4. Ginny was a very special lady. She took me in like a daughter and I loved her so much! I am just discovering of her passing and I and so sad. I will miss her greatly!
