Virginia Mae Stanley

Virginia Mae Sherlin Stanley, 77, of 3 Oak Crest Place, Asheville, died Tuesday, January 13, 2004, in an Asheville hospital. Mrs. Stanley was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late William Riley and Katherine Morgan Sherlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Lyerly, Sr., a daughter, Diana Mooneyham, and a son, James Richard Lyerly, Jr. She was retired from Tops for Shoes. Surviving are two daughters, Betty Roberts of Asheville and Arita Owens of Greenville, SC; a son Lawrence Bass of Welcome, NC; a special granddaughter Deobrah Woods of Leicester, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Thursday January 15, 2004 at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Robert E. Harris officiating.
