Virginia Rickman McGee

Virginia O'Brien McGee, 89, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017. She entered this world on August 7, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Paul E. Rickman and Mollie Lewis Rickman. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her first husband, Condie O'Brien, her current husband, Charles T. McGee, her son Michael O'Brien, daughter Shawn O'Brien Lance, and sister Paula Rickman Hawes. Virginia enjoyed a career with local industries as a Buyer and ultimately, Senior Purchasing Agent. She was held in great esteem by her peers in industry and the vendors with whom she worked. She was most proud that she provided an example to younger ladies in business that there was a path to advance and be part of the management in their organizations. Virginia is survived by three nieces, Leslie Hawes of Fletcher, Tracy Plemmons of Leicester, and Patty Deen and husband Chris of Arkansas, one nephew, Mitch Hawes of Asheville, a granddaughter, Melinda McGee, a grandson, David McGee with wife Yasmin and two sons Zak and Noah, all of Florida. She is also survived by her former son-in-law Jim McMillan and his wife Donna of Arden NC. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Mountain Ridge Wellness and Rehab for the wonderful care and friendship over the past four years. Also a very heartfelt thank you to Virginia's special friends Martha and Nancy for being there for Virginia over many years. In agreement with her wishes, no services are planned. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
