Wanda June Varney Wells

Wanda June Varney Wells Brookville, OH – Wanda June Varney Wells, 81, of Brookville OH and formerly of Asheville, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Brookhaven Nursing Facility in Brookville. A native of West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Elizabeth Jude Varney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James D. Wells, who died in 1996, as well as several brothers and sisters. Wanda is survived by her daughter, Susan Johnson and her husband, Dr. Ronald Johnson of Asheville; her son, Gary Wells and his wife, Patricia, of Union, OH; a sister, Irene Marcum of Logan, WV; a brother, Paul Gene Varney of Spencer, WV; two grandchildren, Christina Renee Johnson and Alicia "Ali" Wells Robinson and her husband, Jeff; one great-grandchild, Callie G. Robinson as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her family wishes a special thank you to Amanda Hampton for her compassionate and loving manner she showed in helping care for Wanda. Also, many thanks to the staff at Brookhaven Nursing Facility for their professionalism and respect shown towards Wanda and her family. A celebration of Wanda's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Bob Roland officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
