Wanda Lee Trexler Brookshire, 87, passed away at Mission Hospital after an extended illness on September 5, 2021.

A native of Buncombe Co., she was the daughter of the late Harold Edwin Trexler and Nyles Gretchen Trexler. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Edwin Trexler and long-time companion, Finley Matney Foster.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Brookshire Fryar; grandchildren, Melissa Dawn Fryar and Christy Fryar Ingle (Brian); and great-grandson, Ian D. Fryar.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hills Cemetery, with Rev. Ty Allen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Asheville Humane Society.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

  1. Wanda and the late Alma Conner were fixtures at the Hot Shot Cafe in Biltmore for many years. It was always a neat experience to eat there because you never knew what to expect, especially out of Alma. Wanda was always right on the money on the orders and made sure everything was just right. Those were simpler and happier times. Wanda will be greatly missed.

  3. I remember Wanda working with me for years .We worked at the Biltmore Dairy Bar for years together. She always made me smile .
