Wayne E. Wright

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Joel W. Wright, Sr. and Pearl Carpenter Wright, and husband of Ruth Royster Chancey Wright.  He graduated from Duke University, and served in the US Army during World War II.

He retired from the Smokey Mountain Trailways of Asheville, and National Trailways in Atlanta, of which he was the former owner.  He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a stepson, Harold Chancey of Winder, Ga.; two brothers, Lewis C. Wright of Borger, TX, and Joel W. Wright, Jr. of Hendersonville, a sister, Ione Morgan of Asheville; grandchildren, Bobby Chancey and Lisa Chancey Patterson, both of Winder, Ga.; and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm Friday at Smith Funeral Home in Winder, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher, with the Rev. Oscar Dowdle officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the services at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
