Wayne Hoover Brown, 83, went h ome to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Wayne was born September 20, 1928, in Leicester, the son of the late Jeter and Ruby Cole Brown. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Winfred Brown. He served in the 45th Infantry Division of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Wayne worked in manufacturing and retired from Square D. He also farmed in the Newfound Community, reaquiring and maintaining the original century old Brown family farm. He enjoyed raising a variety of animals and working with his mules and donkeys. Wayne was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for 35 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Best Brown; daughters, Cynthia Rhinehart and husband, Rick, Tammy Grogan and husband, Neal, and Wayna Brown; five grandchildren, Amanda Plummer, Ethan Rhinehart, Lacey Davis, Tanner Rhinehart, and Kady Rice; and four great-grandchildren, Lily Kate Plummer, Karsyn Rhinehart, Mady Rose Plummer, and Abby Rhinehart. Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Smith and Jackie Collins officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. At his request, his last ride will be in a horse-drawn wagon to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Brown, Ethan Rhinehart, Tanner Rhinehart, David Plummer, Jordan Davis, and D.J. Rice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
